Complete guide to a successful Google business profile

If you’ve gone on a business trip to a city you’ve never visited before, you’re bound to get hungry at some point and look for a good restaurant. What is the first move you will make? Of course, you’ll go to Google!

So, what is the restaurant that will win your trust? The one that will appear at the top of the search and will also have a high positive review score (4.5-5.0). To do this, this business has made sure that its profile in the Google search engine is perfect.

The businesses that appear in the top three receive 60% of clicks. So, you understand that your company’s Google profile plays a catalytic role in its success. Business profiles, or Google My Business, on Google’s search engine can significantly increase your visibility and customer base.

The first steps

Our first action is to see if we have a business profile on Google. This is because there is a possibility that a third party (customer, partner) has created it. If you belong to this case, then you can claim ownership of the listing by clicking on the link “own this business?” that appears below the main business details.

Once you’re signed in through your Google Account, there are three ways to verify that you own your business.  To do this, Google will send you a confirmation code, either to your mobile phone, by email, or by a postcard sent to the business address. In either case, once you receive the code, type it in the relevant field and hit “Submit”.

If you don’t have a profile, you can create a new one with a simple process. Go to your Google account and select “start now”. From there, follow the steps. You can list any type of business (store, service, delivery, online store, etc.) and make sure to fill in the area you serve.

Another area of particular importance is the professional category in which you operate. The clearer it is, the more appearances you will make. Google allows you to add more than one category, so you can accurately cover the range of business activities.

What else you should look out for

First, make sure you fill in all the necessary fields clearly. Never forget how important photos on your profile are, although it is very likely that users will upload them as well, since they have this option. Also, pay close attention and constantly check the reviews you receive about your business. This is because now, most users and potential customers, the first thing they will look for is other people’s reviews about their experience of your services.
